Camp HOPE Volunteer and Staff Positions

Volunteer Positions

Volunteers at Camp HOPE can assist staff and campers in many ways – whether it be in the air-conditioned offices downtown or braving the wilderness.

Baker
Cook up tasty, freshly baked treats for campers during summer camp and for special events.

Camp Set-up
Set up and prepare the campsite for the summer. A day’s worth of help is needed on one Saturday in June.

Communicator
The communicator must possess bilingual writing and verbal skills in order to communicate with parents about Camp HOPE’s programs.

Fund-Raising
Assist the Camp HOPE by seeking in-kind donations from vendors and individuals.

Greeter
Meet parents at the bus stop each Friday morning to sign-out campers. Greeters are needed for about an hour at 10:45 a.m. from July 13 to August 3.

Kitchen Help
Assist the kitchen staff by setting up meals and cleaning up during summer camp.

Mentor
Mentor a Camp HOPE camper once a week for at least a year.

Program Helper
Help as a chaperone with special camper programs throughout the year.

Travel Partner
Accompany the campers on the bus to and from camp. Travel partners are needed every Monday and Friday morning from July 9 to August 3.

Video Production
Help the public relations and fund-raising team create a promotional video and DVD that tells the Camp HOPE story. The video will be used at fund-raising events like Stars Under the Stars with the Padres.

Staff Positions

Camp HOPE is a staff-intensive program requiring staff members that are responsible for a highly structured program.

Program Director
Work with the counseling staff to provide skills, program plans, and direction so that the camp community is well run.
